Country Info |

It is the seventh largest country by area in Europe and the 63rd largest in the world. Most of Germany has a temperate seasonal climate in which humid westerly winds predominate. The climate is moderated by the North Atlantic Drift, which is the northern extension of the Gulf Stream. Consequently in the north-west and the north, the climate is oceanic; rainfall occurs year round with a maximum during summer.
Winters are mild and summers tend to be cool, though temperatures can exceed 30 °C (86 °F) for prolonged periods. In the east, the climate is more continental; winters can be very cold, summers can be very warm, and long dry periods are often recorded. Central and southern Germany are transition regions which vary from moderately oceanic to continental. Again, the maximum temperature can exceed 30 °C (86 °F) in summer
Unique art treasures, world famous orchestras, architectural structures of fascinating beauty - culture in Germany has many facets. From its Roman roots to contemporary modern age you meet culture in beautiful cities as well as in the open country. A fabulous festival for all senses.
Very rare are the countries where you find cultural evidence in such density from architecture and literature to fine arts and music. Moreover between the Baltic Sea and the Alps there is a top-class museum scenery with a large spectrum of collections of different domains.

| |
Each year more than 230,000 international students (12 % of all the students at German universities) come to Germany for study and research. They are attracted by international study programmes and excellent research opportunities. In addition, studying in Germany means being part of an international, highly qualified academic community. The standard of higher education in Germany is first rate.
Studying in Germany no longer means studying in German medium alone - over 300 International Degree Programmes offer courses which are entirely or partly taught in English. These courses are offered in various disciplines, especially in engineering, natural sciences, computer sciences and economics and lead to internationally recognized Bachelor or Master degrees or even to a PhD. |
