Paris, romantic city considered as paradise of tourists. Paris is the
capital of
France and the country's largest city. It is situated on the river
Seine, in northern France. Paris has an
oceanic climate (
Köppen climate classification Cfb) and is affected by the
North Atlantic Current, so the city rarely sees extremely high or low temperatures,Paris has warm and pleasant summers with average high temperatures of 25 °C (77 °F) and low of 15 °C (59 °F).
Spring and autumn have mild to occasionally warm days and cool evenings. Rain falls throughout the year, and although Paris is not a very rainy city, it is known for sudden showers.
In the early ninth century, the emperor
Charlemagne mandated all churches to give lessons in reading, writing and basic arithmetic to their parishes, and cathedrals to give a higher-education in the finer arts of language,
physics,
music, and
theology; at that time, Paris was already one of France's major cathedral towns and beginning its rise to fame as a scholastic centre.
Twelve centuries later, education in Paris and the Paris region employs approximately 330,000 persons, 170,000 of whom are teachers and professors teaching approximately 2.9 million children and students in around 9,000 primary, secondary, and higher education schools and institutions.
